Therapist: Carla Maldonado, MA, LMFT

Carla is Northern born (Minnesota) and Southern raised (Texas).  After studying Psychology and Spanish in college she did mission work with Spanish speaking communities in Mexico and Chicago.  She returned to Minnesota to be closer to family and is where she now calls home.  Carla and her husband (whom is Guatemalan) enjoy spending time together with their two children, being outdoors, and exploring new places.

Carla is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and enjoys working with families and persons from diverse backgrounds.  She believes that the therapeutic relationship is a crucial part of the healing process and her approach is strength based and collaborative.  She works with individuals, couples, and families to help them heal wounds and restore their sense of wellbeing.   She believes that healing can take place when differences are understood and embraced rather than judged.

Carla is bilingual (Spanish/English) and provides culturally sensitive therapy services. Carla has experience working with clients around issues related to anger, anxiety, trauma, domestic violence, relationship issues, racism, discrimination, and family conflict.  She is a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator (CDWF).  She also provides psychological evaluations for immigration cases including: U-visas, asylum, hardship waivers, and VAWA.
